Fallbrook Overland Trail Lift Station
Kelsey Structural provided the structural design and retrofit for the Overland Trail Lift Station Rehabilitation Project for Fallbrook Public Utilities District (FPUD) in Fallbrook, CA. Structural design services included retrofit of an existing below-grade lift station, modifications to an existing CMU electrical building, and miscellaneous concrete repairs to other structures on site. The retrofit of the existing lift station involved widening of the existing drywell in order to allow for large pumps and increased flow through the lift station. The existing structure was partially demolished and new reinforced concrete walls and slab were doweled to the existing structure to expand the drywell. Additionally, the existing wet well top slab was removed and a new concrete slab was cast-in-place with a large opening hatch to allow for access into the wet well. Construction sequencing was critical to minimize system downtime and bypassing while also limiting damage to the existing portions of the lift station to remain as well as the adjacent clarifier structure.
